Sources and method
All wording comes from the consolidated text of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of 27 July 2026. Nothing is written from memory.
Where the text comes from
Every page quotes Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, in the consolidated text of 27 July 2026 published by the Publications Office of the European Union (CELEX 02024R1689-20260727). The wording is copied from that text by a program, without rewriting.
The header of the consolidated text names one amending act: Regulation (EU) 2026/1744 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 July 2026, published in the Official Journal on 24 July 2026 (the Digital Omnibus on AI). Its own text, read from the Publications Office, replaces Article 113, third paragraph, points (a) and (c), and adds point (d).
Which date applies to which entry
Annex III points: Article 113, third paragraph, point (c)(i): Chapter III, Sections 1, 2, and 3, with the exception of Article 6(5), shall apply from 2 December 2027 as regards AI systems classified as high-risk pursuant to Article 6(2) and Annex III.
Article 5(1), points (a) to (h): Article 113, third paragraph, point (a): Chapters I and II shall apply from 2 February 2025. Points (ba) and (bb), and Article 5(1a) and (1b), are the exception: they apply from 2 December 2026.
Article 50: no point of Article 113, third paragraph, names Chapter IV, so the general date applies: Article 113, second paragraph, It shall apply from 2 August 2026. For Article 50(2), Article 111(4) adds that providers of generative systems placed on the market before 2 August 2026 shall take the necessary steps to comply by 2 December 2026.
Article 6(3): the derogation
Article 6(2): In addition to the high-risk AI systems referred to in paragraph 1, AI systems referred to in Annex III shall be considered to be high-risk.
Article 6(3): By derogation from paragraph 2, an AI system referred to in Annex III shall not be considered to be high-risk where it does not pose a significant risk of harm to the health, safety or fundamental rights of natural persons, including by not materially influencing the outcome of decision making.
The first subparagraph shall apply where any of the following conditions is fulfilled:
- (a) the AI system is intended to perform a narrow procedural task;
- (b) the AI system is intended to improve the result of a previously completed human activity;
- (c) the AI system is intended to detect decision-making patterns or deviations from prior decision-making patterns and is not meant to replace or influence the previously completed human assessment, without proper human review; or
- (d) the AI system is intended to perform a preparatory task to an assessment relevant for the purposes of the use cases listed in Annex III.
What this site does not do
It does not say that a named product is or is not covered by the AI Act, and it does not decide whether Article 6(3) applies to any system. It prints what the Regulation says and the date it applies from.
